Manny Sarabia

Manny is a 15-year-old sophomore at Abraham Lincoln High School and has been involved with First Tee – San Francisco for 7+ years. He found out about First Tee through his brother who was involved in the First Tee School Program. Manny credits First Tee for teaching him the value of perseverance. His perseverance was put to the test recently while playing and finishing in his very first JTNC tournament in a 112-degree heatwave! Manny loves the game of golf, but more importantly he cherishes the friendships he’s made through the program.
“My favorite experiences are spending time with my friends in the First Tee, whether it be in the van or overnight trips.”
Manny envisions himself becoming a successful nurse one day! We’re looking forward to watching him continue to grow and crush his goals.

Samantha Gong

Sam joined First Tee – San Francisco at 7 years old when her mom signed her up to explore more sports. She was glad her mom signed her up for First Tee because golf was the one sport she excelled at. Sam credits First Tee for giving her numerous opportunities to not only grow as a person, but as a leader. The program taught her how to develop personal goals and how to become comfortable with the uncomfortable. After many years in the program, Sam describes the First Tee as her second family.
“First Tee – San Francisco is made up of extremely supportive and nurturing individuals who welcome others with open arms. First Tee also has a great shoulder to lean on.”
Her favorite memory of First Tee was when a group of kids from the program came down to Pebble Beach to support/watch her in The First Tee Open. The kids were super supportive and encouraging. That was Samantha’s first time having a peanut gallery cheer for her.

Elizabeth Gong

Elizabeth is a sophomore at Lowell High School and has been involved with First Tee–San Francisco for 8 years. Her favorite memory with First Tee is when she traveled to Livermore with her friends to play in a JTNC tournament at Poppy Ridge Golf Course. Elizabeth explains that First Tee has taught her to “focus on the positives more than the negatives, but if you do focus on the negatives, focus on turning them into positives.”
Elizabeth’s recent accomplishments include placing second at the Foxtail Junior Championship and helping her high school golf team win the AAA/CIF San Francisco Section in 2019.

Jaymar Agtang

Meet Jaymar, a senior at Archbishop Riordan HS and long time member of the First Tee–San Francisco family. Jaymar will be attending St. Olaf college in Minnesota as a Posse Scholar this upcoming fall and is planning to try out for the school’s golf team!
Jaymar credits First Tee–San Francisco and the Future Foursome program with helping him become the man he is today: “One thing First Tee has taught me is patience and how to control my feelings and reactions. Being a part of First Tee–San Francisco has opened up many opportunities for me, even outside the game of golf.”
