Chief Programs Officer

Jon’s journey with First Tee — San Francisco began in 2004 after a chance encounter at TPC Harding Park while playing golf with his dad. Curious about a trailer in the parking lot, he stopped to learn more about the program and immediately felt connected to its mission. He began as a volunteer and steadily grew into the leadership role he holds today.

A graduate of San Francisco State University with a degree in Business Administration and an emphasis in Marketing, Jon has always been passionate about both golf and education. First Tee provided the perfect opportunity to combine those interests while helping young people grow from elementary school through college and beyond.

Jon believes deeply in First Tee’s mission of developing life skills through the game of golf. He sees opportunity, not potential, as the biggest factor in shaping a young person’s future and is passionate about creating access for youth from underrepresented communities. He hopes the program continues to develop resilient, empathetic, and innovative young leaders who are equipped with strong problem-solving skills and meaningful human connections.

One of Jon’s main priorities is coaching and developing First Tee’s coaching staff to ensure participants receive the highest quality experience, both in what is taught and how it is taught. While measurable achievements like grades, graduation rates, and golf scores matter, Jon believes true success is reflected in the personal growth families see in their children: greater confidence, stronger communication, goal setting, and the ability to navigate challenges positively.

Jon is especially excited about expanding access and opportunities across First Tee — San Francisco’s locations, including the Sandy Tatum Learning Center, Golden Gate Park Golf Course, and Visitacion Valley Middle School. He is proud of the organization’s continued efforts to bring golf and youth development programming into communities that have historically had limited access to the game.

Outside of work, Jon enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures, trying new foods, and meeting people from around the world. Although he doesn’t get to play as much golf as he would like, he loves that the game offers lifelong opportunities for growth, challenge, and connection.

For Jon, First Tee — San Francisco is about bringing people together from all backgrounds to build a more empathetic, collaborative, and positive future for the next generation.
