Chief of People and Operations Officer

Kai’s journey with First Tee — San Francisco began in 2004 as one of the organization’s very first participants. As a young immigrant adjusting to life in a new country and culture, First Tee became more than just a program; it became a second home. Through the support of coaches, mentors, and the community around her, Kai found confidence, connection, and opportunities that helped shape her future both personally and professionally.

After spending several years exploring opportunities in the corporate world, Kai returned to First Tee — San Francisco in 2018 as a part-time coach and HR consultant, bringing her experience full circle. Today, she continues to support the organization through both coaching and administrative leadership, driven by a passion for giving back to the program that had such a profound impact on her life.

Kai earned a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management from San Francisco State University and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Golden Gate University. She believes deeply in First Tee’s mission to create opportunities for youth, especially those from underrepresented communities. As someone who directly benefited from the program, she understands how access, mentorship, and support can open doors that may otherwise feel out of reach.

For Kai, First Tee is about far more than golf. It is about helping young people discover confidence in themselves, build lifelong friendships, develop leadership skills, and pursue futures they may not have imagined possible. She has seen firsthand how participants grow into college graduates, professionals, and community leaders, and she is excited to continue expanding that impact for the next generation of Game Changers.

One of Kai’s primary goals is to help First Tee remain a welcoming and inclusive place where every participant feels supported and empowered. She believes that First Tee — San Francisco provides much-needed safe spaces where youth can learn, connect, and grow both on and off the golf course. She also hopes to strengthen First Tee’s connection to the local community by continuing to expand programs and opportunities throughout San Francisco.

Outside of work, Kai loves traveling and experiencing different cultures. Her personal goal is to visit all 50 states and at least 50 countries, and she enjoys trying new foods and learning from the people and places she encounters along the way. Although she does not play as much golf as she once did, the game remains a meaningful part of her life because of the friendships, experiences, and opportunities it has created for her. Over the years, she has played more than 100 golf courses across the United States and internationally.

One of Kai’s favorite places in San Francisco is Twin Peaks, a place that holds special meaning for her because it was one of the first places that truly made the city feel like home after she immigrated to the United States.

For Kai, First Tee — San Francisco stands for opportunity and possibility. Her message to families and future participants is simple: this is a life-changing program that has impacted not only her own family, but hundreds of others throughout the community.
